Adolescence
Everyone has gone through this at some point in their life or some of us like myself are going through this span of our life right now. What people tend to forget it is that its a span, so if its a good one a majority of their life is filled to the brim with everything from the tooth fairy to a secret relationship but for others who go through hell most of this time they are not entitled to an opinion , these are the apparent golden years of our lives i am scared to think about whats ahead then.
I know for a fact that a lot of people talk about peer pressure and as a sixteen year old I can very well relate to them but when girls start getting pregnant at the age of 11 thats not peer pressure thats their choice, people or more obviously society has to understand the difference between choice and peer pressure first so as to educate the future generations.
The changes that students go through at this age are major but not always detrimental. I genuinely feel that there should be a tight bond between a student and their family as now in India even after mostly becoming nuclear family units there a lack of a connection between the parents and the children at this age. There are times when students give in to peer pressure in the matter of trying a smoke or getting a drink but the best thing for them to do is tell parents but that is completely impossible if the parents are not an understanding folk. I know this from experience but how much ever you restrict a teenager you are putting them into further harm.
The point I wanted to make through this piece was that friends, society and most of all the family should try to understand the physical and mental changes we are going through rather than cage us or taunt us.We are dealing with things that may seem petty to you but for us it feels like our lifes at stake so yes we do need people to give us perspective but mostly what we need is your support.
